fan failure error

    My son's computer is an HP Pavillion, Windows ME (which he hates). He got a fan failure error when he booted. He replaced the fan and it's still doing the same thing. Boots to Dos, gives same error message. Help, PLEASE!

    Daizy, thanks for trying to help. My son fixed his computer. I'm really not clear about what he did but he said the problem was something that plugged into the motherboard. Again, many thanks!
