I recently acquired two new servers both built around twin Intel Xeon 5130 processors. According to Intel documents and the information gleaned from Windows System Information, these are x64 processors. If I am mistaken, please let me know.

Secondly, both of these servers are running Windows Server 2003 R2 which, according to my research, is a 64-bit operating system. Again, if I'm mistaken, let me know.

Now the problem... I'm trying to install Exchange 2007 onto one of these servers and I receive an error that says "This image D:/ is valid but is for a machine type other than the machine. " Well, Exchange 2007 is a 64-bit application, my operating system is a 64-bit OS and my processors are 64-bit as well. Am I missing something?

To verify that I didn't receive the 32-bit evaluation version, I tried to run the installer on a 32-bit processor/OS and received the same error.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and successfully found a resolution?

There is a 64-bit version of Windows 2003 server, but there is also a 32 bit version. Unless you specifically selected/purchased the 64 bit version of the OS, then you may well have the 32 bit version installed.
