Referring to my previous post about 1709. My brother finally got 1709 to install after many trials and failures. I had to dump my windows and reloaded from ISO file. It loaded with no errors, then it downloaded two updates and installed with no errors. Finally got a working system again, after several hours.
While discussing it today, I thought that with the new install and the updates and two more updates this weeks I should be OK. I checked my version and found I am up to 1703, not 1709. Should I download the update or wait for it to come automatically. I see some folks are have problems with 1709.

Wait for it. I don't see any reason to jump right now.

I've got 3 comps running 1709 troublefree and my W10 "Insider" comp is running build 17046.1000 which is way ahead of current 1709.

Then the ISO was not the most recent version but one that you downloaded and saved on an earlier occasion, right?

Christer, For several months, all my updates ended in failure to install. Then each attempt would kill another function on the computer - no start button, no search box, then no printer function. I gave up and downloaded the only version that was there at the time. I wiped my HD and started from scratch. Several hours of downloading and installing, and now two new updates, I thought I had the newest version. My system is working fine so I'll wait for the newer version to appear. The original problem started months ago, so it may have been current at the time.

Yes, version 1709 was released in september. Before that, the tool would give version 1703.
