    Hi members

For 4 PCs with Win7.32b / Home Premium, the following .ocx was pasted in the the sys32 folder as Admin (no regsvr32 is required as expected)
    COMDLG32 OCX 140488 03/29/12 3:42p (said to be for win7.32b)
The .exe using this CommonDialog object in these 4 PCs ran ok.

THEN few days ago, i got a new PC with the same OS win7.32bit / Home Premium, same updates inc SP1 but this time the .exe failed with message
Error 339: comdlg32.ocx or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

To ensure that the .ocx is registered, i ran the following in the command prompt dialog
    regsvr32 %Systemroot%\System32\comdlg32.ocx
    It failed with response:
The module was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x8002801c.

The same error appeared after using another .ocx (abt 190k) is recently downloaded and is said to be specially for win7.32b

    Puzzle, Help appreciated.

Looks like regsvr32 was not able to access the registry. Were you running the command from an elevated cmd prompt?

(Click the Start orb, type in "cmd" [no quotes], right click the "cmd" you see up at the top of the list and then select "Run as Administrator ". You will now be at an elevated cmd prompt.)

I found that my Com Prompt was not ran as Admin, once i ran as Admin, Regsvr32 can register the .ocx. Spy.Dr said the same thing.

    Thanks anyway.
