I got as far as Windows is detecting your hardware such as keyboard and mouse. That got about 60% done and then.....nothing. No error message. CTRL-ALT-DEL did nothing. Just a lockup. What could be wrong?

Hopefully I won't get yelled at for this response... It has worked for me in the past but I don't know if it would be considered the proper way to go about it...

First it is not unknown for windows to 'hang' while finding hardware. Often, if this happens, you can just re-boot and pick back up on the install. Windows can have 'better luck' the second or third time through.

If that dosen't work... and here is where I may get yelled at... :D

First try going to BIOS and under your PNP setting enable 'reconfigure hardware' or something like that. Drawing a blank at the moment on it's exact label but once in the PNP area ya can't miss it. Let it re-boot and pick up on the install again.

    If that dosen't work...

Try removing some hardware. Especailly if you have any ISA slots with anything in them. Remove any ISA cards first and try picking up the install again. If there are no ISA cards or removing ISA cards dosen't work remove all your cards except video and return to BIOS and do the reconfigre hardware again. Pick back up on your install. If the install is now sucessful replace the cards and do the install of drivers for each. In a case like this I would usually install the cards one at a time just to avoid confussion on what I'm installing.
