    In following instructions in creating a XP-SP2 Slipstream CD given in www.helpwithwindows.com , I created 2 Folders on my C: drive , namely SP2 and XP-CD.

    I d/l the SP2 file , "WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.EXE" , from the Web and placed it into the SP2 Folder.

    I then copied the contents of my XP Pro Upgrade CD to the Folder XP-CD. This appeared as the sub-Folder "X1APCCP_EN(Z)" which contained a few files and the following sub-Folders :-DOCS,DOTNETFX,1386,SUPPORT & VALUEADD.

    Next I entered the string :- "C:\SP2\WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU /integrate:C:\XP-CD" (without quotes) into the RUN box and pressed ENTER.

    The integration started but stopped before completion with the error box shown in the ATTACHMENT which was obtained by a screen grab.

    Canyou tell me what the problem is here ?

    Is it due to my use of a XP Upgrade CD ?

    Was it correct to include the root Folder X1APCCP_EN(Z) when copying the XP Upgrade CD?

    P.S.
    Don't know how to append an Attachment so I'll summarisethe error message:-

    "Failed to coppy some or all files necessary....Please check that :-
    a) No network or copy errors
    b)Format of destination is OK
    The files to be integrated must reside in an I386 folder and/or ia64 or nec98 directory ...... "

    Hi Thenoo and welcome to WindowsBBS!

    I've done a few slipstreams and have had no problems with any so far. The one thing that I can see that might be your problem, you said;

    The instructions that I have used say to do the following;

    Next, open a Command Prompt (Start > Run > cmd), and go to the folder where you downloaded SP2 (cd \foldername). Type the command: servicepack filename /integrate:drive/path. In my example the command is WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU /integrate:D:\XP-CD.

    You might want to try the integrate command again from within the folder that you downloaded the SP2 file.

    I've tried to follow your advice here as follows:-

    from cmd prompt , I typed "cd \C:\SP2 "

    This brings me to the "DOS-type" black screen from which all the following have been inserted - is this correct ?

    I then entered the command;-

    "WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU/integrate:\XP-CD "

    To re-cap :-

    I have downloaded the SP2 file " WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe" and installed it in the folder C:\SP2.

    I have copied the entire contents of my XP Pro Upgrade CD to the folder C:\XP-CD. When I click in this folder , I get the sub-folder "X1APCCP_EN" -this is a copy of my XP Pro Upgrade CD

    It would , therefore , seem that my arrangement is an identical one to yours and , as a result , I have used the same command as you did , namely :-

    "WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU/integrate:\XP-CD "

    Please note that , in entering this command , I omitted the ".exe" from the file
    WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.

    Is this correct ?

    I also gave the destination folder for the integrated files as simply "XP-CD" - should this have been " XP-CD\X1APCCP_EN" ?

    Unfortunately this gives the same error message as before.

    Hi, Just happening by...

    I had some problems with this slipstreaming before and it always amounted to details.

    I notice there is a detail difference between your two strings:

    WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU /integrate:\XP-CD BillB
    WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU/integrate:\XP-CD Yours

    Maybe that is the problem?

    Thenoo,

    My apologies, it looks like when I copied in the instructions part of the command was masked somehow. When you open the DOS window, you will want to change to the directory where you have the SP2 install file, CD \SP2 in your case. Then type the command;

    WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU /integrate:C:\XP-CD

    I think the problem you are having is because you didn't indicate the full path to where your copied XP cd is, in your case C:\XP-CD. There is a space between the SP2 file name and the execution parms also.

    Give this a try and let me know how it works.

    Thanks to all the repliers and I note the suggestions made .

    I'm sure the problem was in the details mentioned but , I've decided to solve the problem by using Autostreamer which did the trick for me.

    I appreciate the help nevertheless
