f1, f2 error on system start up

    When pc starts up, stops at black screen with f1 resume or f2 error.
    f1 will let it finally boot up, but always stop here and will not boot past this
    ideas???
    xp home dell pc

    Did you make ANY type of change to the pc prior to this starting?

    no a storm came thru and next day this started. I unplugged hard drive and powered up message still appeared. reattached and this time got same message but was able to get to logon screen and start up.

    What happens if you press F2, does it take you into the BIOS Setup? If so try saving and exiting to see if the problem continues.

    If you're lucky everything will be fine but I'd run a memory checker to confirm the status of your memory, and I'd also check your Hard, Optical & floppy drives are working.
