My floppy drive is extremely slow. It takes "forever" reading a floppy disk. I've tried several different NEW floppies and it's definitely the drive itself. Any ideas?

That will be a hardware problem most of the time and given the low price of floppy drives, just get on down to the floppy drive store and get a replacement. Normally the symptoms include a grinding noise louder than usual although not always.

Just in case...try removing/uninstalling the Floppy Drive Controller in Device Manager. It will automatically reinstall on reboot.
