Okay, so I did something incredibly stupid. I for some reason couldn't safely remove my external hard drive because it kept saying "generic volume cannot be stopped right now" or something. So, thinking that I could just undo the process, I disabled generic volume, and now I don't know how to enable it so the laptop can recognize and access it again.
Does anyone know how to re-enable generic volume? If it's even possible?

p.s. If this helps, the external hard drive works on every other computer, and the generic volume is (G:)

impelin - Welcome to the Board :)

An interesting scenario that I can't say I have come across before :)

    Two comments/suggestions....

If you plug the drive in and go to Device Manager is it recognised with a red X through it? If so right click on the drive > Enable.

Could try System Restore to a point prior to disabling the drive.

I have edited your thread title to be more specific.
