Somehow I got the listed worm after having to wipe my hard drive and reinstall everything. The AV program has found and deleted pieces of this worm in a couple of places and I deleted its entry in the registry. Subsequent scans in safe mode and normal mode have been negative. The problem is the AV program keeps spontaneously popping up and saying it is finding WORM_AGOBOT.HG in: C:\System Volume Information\_restore{2E0B205B-234B-4628-897E-62BEFAE79... When I select Clean Now it scans the drives and finds nothing. A little while later the Virus Detected notice pops up again. I was going to delete the infected file myself, but the OS will not let me access the System Volume Information folder. When the curser is over it also says the folder is empty. Searches for the file find nothing. How do I find and delete this file?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

    RMA,

Try the removal instructions found here. They are from Symantec and should do the trick.

Those are your system restore points, your backups. You need only right click My Computer and select properties. On system restore tab, check the box to turn off and apply. Reboot and re-enable.
