I've posted on here before about various problems I've been having with my wireless router, which I figured out what was up - my digisender uses the same frequency and blocked the WiFi.

However in my bedroom only a few metres away from my router, the signal drops from 100% to about 50-60%, which is poor. I'm hoping to move the router once I get an extension for the power lead.

Anyway I've got my main router (Belkin N1 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router) and a spare (Netgear DG834G router) and wondered if I can use the spare to help boost the signal? I've heard about using a router as an access point not a router but not sure myself so any info would really help.

Also the Belkin has an option to turn it in to a Access Point (and a new log in ip) but it seems to shut most of the functions down. What does this actually do and what difference is it to having my router as normal?

    Thanx for reading :)

You'd need to be able to setup the Netgear in "repeater mode ". It may be possible. I have a Netgear Access Point (only AP) and mine has this feature. You'd have to check the manual for your Netgear specific version:
