Would it be possible to save or export profiles / preferences onve Netscape 6.X has been configured? Now and then I re-install the OS, and this would be a time saver. No need for setting up all the mail and newsgroup accounts from scratch again, and all saved mail are already in their various accounts. I'm using 2 partitions; one for programs and another for data e.g. mail, etc.

I'm using 6.2, which seems to work fine. When I reinstalled my OS, I installed 6.21. That seems to be ok, until I start the mail task. Netscape completely freezes as soon as the mail window opens. Have gone back to 6.2 but anyone else had the same prob?

    Hi doctorjellybean and welcome back!

Yes indeed you can save your 6.2 Profile the same way you saved 4.7x Profiles. This is the location of your 6.2 Profile folder:

    C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.slt

The Mail Program in all 6.x Versions is still pretty rough. Lots of people experiencing problems in that feature. Hopefully the next 6.x Release will have improved Mail function. It will largely depend on what version of Mozilla will be used.

Think I may have asked this before....a long time ago :)

Would it therefore be possible to skip Netscape altogether and use the latest release of Mozilla, considering it's more stable (hopefully) than the latest NS release?

You can do that. Mozilla0.9.8 will be released soon, or you can experiment with Mozilla0.9.7. You won't need to uninstall 6.2, in order to run Mozilla. They reside together very nicely. Any improvement in Netscape 6.x will be seen first in Mozilla Releases, and this includes Mail.

You can download the Mozilla Releases here:

    Thank you!

I've just done that, updated with the last nightly built, and it appears that I'm now using 0.9.8

Hmmm...may just stick with Mozilla instead of Netscape. Ok, so we're back to the classic skin...but hey, it works! Now if they can only bring back the mail notification feature which notifies you in the sys tray

    Hey Dr.JB!

 So Mozilla0.9.8 is out! Good to know, and thanks for getting back with that information.

On the Mail Notification, you might try this workaround that was offered on the Netscape 6 Windows NG. Whether or not it will work with Mozilla I couldn't say, but might be worth a try:
