After many years my OE address book has slowed down unbearably with 13,000 addresses in a couple hundred folders. Thinking that I might solve this by exporting to Outlook, I tried this and the slowness meant it took 24 hours! but eventually succeeded but (sob) once in Outlook the folders were empty. Is there any way I can export the folders as well as the addresses they contain?

    thanks!

Hey Mr Bill, thanks for replying. I use OE 6

No I don't use all the addresses but it would be hard for me to know which ones I DO use, for example, I'm going to the US next month to give presentations and workshops in ecology www.rainforestinfo.org.au and I've emailed all the people who have attended my events in years past (about 2100 addresses) to let them know I'm on my way.

When I'm there I'll probably collect another 2 or 300 addresses and on it goes.

Likewise, I live in northern NSW Australia and have about 800 local addresses whom I notify when there are local events and so on.

    Can you help?

You could use the sort facitiy in OE and delete all except the last 400, say?

If you select view and then sort by date, you could probably see which were the last you had used over, say, the last three months. Any before that could possibly be considered dead links and therefore dleted?

Thanks. "Date" is not an option for sorting by in my version of the OE address book.

But in any case, I want to keep the addresses, I just want to move them, in their folders, into another program which can handle a large number better than OE can

Quite a problem you have there. Maybe someone can come up with a solution. I live in one of the smaller parts of Europe - I don't think we have that many addresses in our phone book!
