A sudden and mysterious problem exists. My Explorer v5 (Win95), is off to the right when at the max setting or the middle square box in the upper right is clicked. At this setting i can see about a half inch of the underlying desktop on a 17 inch monitor. Clicking the middle box again and I have a resizable window and can drag the sides to fit the screen. In this state, the upper right controls show, a dash, a singular square box and and "X ". This does not happen to the Netscape browser that I have installed. When Explorer is off to the right, only the "dash" button is visible and just a smidgen of the middle button. I am able to get my mouse to click on the middle button to regain my rescalable window. I tried the repair feature of Explorer but the problem remains. I 've never done registry entries, but if that's what is takes, I'm willing to try it.
Even a url for future reference would be great, but for now, is there a simple fix?
    thanks
    Greg

One more thing. If i click the Explorer "Help ", then "Contents and Index ", a window opens that operates normally when I click the upper right corner buttons.

    I fixed it?

Ok, it appears that I fixed it with this-

TO MAXIMIZE WINDOWS THAT STAY MAXIMIZED--
Start IE, right click any link on a web page, and select Open in a New Window.
Go back to the first IE window you opened and close it.
Return to the second window and manually drag it to fill the screen.
(Do not use the maximize button, for that's a temporary setting that will not be retained.)
Now hold the Ctrl button, and close this second window using 'close' in the File menu (important!).

**Tried it once and it did not work, then tried it again, after I draged the windows bar at the bottom of the screen, out of sight.
