    Hello

While both of subject utilities open into full screen sized windows, subsequent windows always open half size or smaller. They didn't used to do this.

Is there an easy way to correct these `pains'? I once read that one could enlarge an Internet Explorer undersized pane and then close IE and reopen. It doesn't work.

Could Win 98SE be reinstalled `overtop' the existing installation and if so, is it likely to fix the problems? If your response is `yes', then I would presume that any Win 98SE files that have been updated, should not be replaced. I don't want to do a full blown reinstall of Win 98.

    Can anybody enlighten me?

    Thank you all.

    Close the First Window.

Hold the CTRL Key the WHOLE TIME->
Drag the window to the size you want.
    Click File->Exit/Close

    Hi Steve

Thanks for the solution. I'll give it a try and let you and others know how I make out.

    Explorer Window Sizes

    Hello Steve

I thought that solution was it when I'd closed a resized window and reopened it but found that I had to do it for ever Explorer window that opened undersize ... until today, when windows began opening even smaller. I also found that it wouldn't work - consistently that is - with IE 6.x undersized windows.

Meanwhile, I've had a bit of a disaster on my hands. Most of the problems appear to be solved but it was nasty for a while. I upgraded ZA free program and after rebooting, I couldn't use Explorer at all. Every time I tried, it froze, Desktop wall paper disappeared and all else also was frozen. I finally got that resolved by SAFE booting, removing Zone Alarm completely and then installing the upgrade as if it was a first time install.

Problems currently left [windows sizing aside] include an invalid VXD call from VSDATA95 etc. when I reboot and a slew of Windows/System files reported as deleted when I run System File Checker. Most are PFxxx.DLL files dated 4/14/98 including ShellWP.dll and QPAuto8.dll.

Another file that is reported changed is MSISYS.VXD from 10/24/04 `x am' to `y pm'. Do you know if the latter is simply normal and a file that changes as the system is in use?

I've scanned the computer for viruses and spyware and run defrag twice.

Finally, can you tell me what's meant by `Run Windows Setup' and how does one do so without deleting and reinstalling Windows? This is a `just in case' question. I'm researching on the Net but...

Many thanks and sorry to roll from one set of problems into another. I don't know what's going on.

Oh yes, I also removed Spysweeper via its own uninstall on the Programs Menu. Trial had expired. Didn't find it in Add/Remove programs.

    Explorer Windows Sizing - Other

    Hello All

Just want to tell you that, following most of a day of frustration I think I've resolved most of my Windows 98SE problems save for a few nettles. To make a long story short, I don't think Norton A/V liked me upgrading Zone Alarm and tho' everything was shut down, I simply couldn't load windows last night.

After reinstalling Zone Alarm and using step-by-step boot up, I tracked the problem to a hiccup in Norton A/V 4. I had to remove and reinstall it TWICE but now I'm back in business.

My apologies to all for venting last night and thanks for your patiece.
