Anybody have an idea what this following message means, and if so, can I correct it? I have been getting this for a while, and it was coming up maybe 50% of the time when I attempted to shut down the computer - it now comes up nearly 100% of the time, and seems to be causing the computer to occasionally lock up when I click 'OK' in the 'Illegal Operation' message window.

    "EXPLORER "

'This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.'

'Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module GDI.EXE at 0001:0000664d'

Just another note that may provide some clue - when the message was coming up occasionally, it seemed to be only when we had been on the internet during that session of the computer being used.

    Your help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Steve.

I had this same problem recently with a mini ITX EPIA800 motherboard.
I tried all sorts of things for a couple of weeks then in desperation I went into the bios and set it to `load bios defaults'

That cured the problem completely. I also then re-loaded all the drivers and have had no problems since.
might be worth a try if nothing else works

    Hi tripejjjay

Sorry I can't be of more help. You can take a look at this google search . It appears this GDI program call can come from a system level and numerous apps. If you see anything that might look close, try doing a search within this search.
