I can't get my 19" Sony monitor to show full screen. It is hooked up to a 15" Dell laptop and will only display as the laptop does. It used to show full screen, but I don't know how I did it. Now there is a black band at the top of around 4 inches. I need the larger screen display to help with my work, so any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Numbering monitors

Maybe a better question should be, how to separate the monitor numbers? Both 15" laptop and 19" monitor show as #1. I can't get the 19" monitor to show as #2.

I don't know Dell laptops, but I expect they are similar to others.

Find the "graphics manager" program. You may need to right-click on a blank space on the desktop or there may be an icon in the Notification Tray (next to the time). The manager may be nVidia, ATI or another manufacturer (maybe Intel). Don't use Windows Display to make the settings, use the graphics manufacturer's manager/control panel. Also check in Windows Control Panel for the graphics manager.

There is probably also a function key that also controls the graphics (maybe specifically for connection to a projector). Make sure that is set to default first.
