Hi....adaware found this in my registry:

    execfile\shell\open\command\" "0

Is anybody familar with this? Norton, Pest Control and others do not bring it up as a virus?

    thanks for any info.

    Running XP on Pent 4.

Have you let Adawre fix it ? if not I would then
Open the quarantine page select that item right click on it choose
Item details then copy paste it here,, maybe someone will then have an idea what it was

If you mean "exefile\shell\open\command (not "execfile "), you may have a virus--Swen or Pretty Park
    See
    http://www.google.com/search?num=30&hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=exefile\shell\open\command
Or maybe you had the virus, and your anitvirus removed it, and just this bit remains.
In any event, as Lonny Jones says, let AdAware remove the Registry item. (You have to check the box to the left of the item in the list at the end of a scan and then Quarantine. You can always restore from Quarantine if your PC starts having problems.)
And do you keep your Antivirus up to date with the latest virus definitions? If not, do so, and then scan again. Same with AdAware. Be sure you have the latest reffile.

You may want to delete your prior System Restore Points in case AdAware is picking up something in there. SR files are protected, and AV software cannot delete or quarantine anything in there.
