.exe files will not run when clicked, they try to open in Adobe Reader.

When right clicked , the popup has
    Code:
     [B]READ[/B]
     OPEN
     Run as ..
    ect
if I click on open then they will run. The default 'READ' should not be there. How to correct error ?
Also has problems during boot up as some .exe files are in the start up menu.

    Thanks.

    Download and run exeHelper.

    • * Please download exeHelper from Raktor to your desktop.
      * Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
      * A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.

Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file ", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

broni- here is the log. But did not do the job.
After running program I did reboot, same result.

This is not my main XP install so can re-install but prefer to fix.
May be some history on what I think caused the problem.
Have 2 hdd's with XP and Linux.
The bad XP is on a logical volume on secondary hdd.
Due to my error , had to put a backed up copy of the MBR and it had the wrong hdd ID for 'bad' XP's registry. When I booted into XP it crossed booted into XP on the main hdd. (It loaded using files from both XP installes).
I removed main hdd and rebooted to bad XP and now this problem.
