when opening excel xp, the column headers are numbered 1, 2,3 ,4 etc rather than as the old 2000 style A, B, C, D etc.

Is there a way to get the letter column heading format rather than the integers ?

    Thanks

This may be a feature of Excel XP - I run 2003 and can find no way of changing the column headers from letters to integers.

Bound to be someone around the Board with a definitive answer on this.

I'm running Excel XP and mine shows letters accross the top and numbers down the side, the same as always. I can't find any way of changing the default headers in the help files but if I get a little free time later I'll continue to research this.

thank you for your suggestions, but somehow i managed to solve the problem. Actually it is not a problem it is just a new feature in excel the "R1C1 reference style" which was turned on in the options. You can get to it by Tools->Options->General. By unticking it's option i got back the letters in the column headings.

    Thanks for your support!
