I used Office 97 with Windows 98 in my old computer. I bought a new computer with XP professional and installed my old Office 97 from the original Office 97 CD disk and transfered my files. I did not go to Microsoft Update to get any updates since the original disk came out. It works fine except that when I go to Tools-Options; it tells me that there is an error and it has to shutdown.

The message says: error signature AppName: excel.exe AppVer: 8.0.1.4307 ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0000006c

It wants me to send the info to Microsoft. Help!

Hi - welcome to the Board :)

First off try Help > Detect and Repair or go to Add/Remove Programs > Office > Change/Remove and select the Repair option.

Ignore the MS message :D Won't do you any good if you do send.
