Is this forum able to help with writing a particular macro in Excel?

If so I will provide more detail on what I am looking for.

I would like help writing an Excel macro.

Imagine a spreadsheet that is a list of clients in aplhabetic order.

I would like a macro where I enter a letter (or two) in an input box. When entered the first cell having the first (or first two) letter will become the active cell.

That is, when I enter "K ", the macro would search to find the first entry beginning with K, and then hilite that cell.

    Isn't that exactly what the 'Find' button/Edit > Find/Ctrl + F does?

    Yes, true.

What I want is to put the Ctrl+F in a macro. Then I don't have to navigate to the column I want.

The macro would run with two key strokes (say Alt+n) that would open the input box. Then enter the "K" and it takes me to the first listing that begins with K.

I think Ctrl+F would find the first K whether or not it was the first letter of a listing.

Maybe I am looking for a filter?? I'm not too up to speed with them but those I see require lots of fiddling around to get where you want ... i.e. you use the Custom option.

The "find" option has an option for case and by column. You'd still have to click on the correct column.

I am trying to avoid selecting all the options such a case and column.

This is commonly done in many programs, not necessarily Excel.

My cell phone does it and most PIMs do it.
