Hi, I want to copy a set of data that is horizontal into a vertical one. However Excel by nature only wants to keep vertical with vertical and horizontal with horizontal.
incase that was confusing: essentially I want to convert a row of data into a column. I am wondering if anyone could give me a hint as to how to solve this. Thanks

Copy the source data to the clipboard.

Select the upper left corner of the destination range.

Select the EDIT > PASTE SPECIAL command.

    Tag the Transpose check box.

    Select OK.

Is there anyway to do this by the use of a formula? because I actually wanted to perform operations on the data too. I know i can make another sheet, transpose the data, then do calculations but I would rather a one step solution. Thanks

Sounds like you want a Pivot Table.

I don't know exactly what you are trying to do, but recording a macro might be an option. If this is a task that you are going to perform regularily you can record the macro once and in the future you will be able to launch it by a keypress. You don't need to know anything about visual basic to generate a macro in this manner.

What are your trying to accomplish?
