    I've kind of messed up. I thought I could install the Office 2000 service packs on my work computer, but forgot I would need the installation disks to complete the patch (I don't have free access to the instalation disks!). In doing so, I have caused a glitch with my copy of Excel. When I click on an Excel Icon, I get an error message that states;
    "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel. "
    I checked the associations as directed, and all looks well. I checked the file associations in the registry, and all looks well (as far as I know).
    I have developed a work-around, by opening excel, and reducing it to the task bar. Once Excel is opened, all the icons work as they should, but I must keep Excel running for them to work.
    Is there a solution? Is there a registry edit or something that will help?
    I would really appreciate your assistance!

    There is no solution to this problem if you do not have the install CD's
    for Office 2000.
