    I have a Dell laptop running Windows 2000 and Office 2000. I have copied and pasted in Excel with impunity for 4 years. I recently reinstalled Office 2000 to add Powerpoint. Since then, I get an error message when the Excel clipboard has 12 items asking me if I want to replace one of the items. I am forced to clear the clipboard.

    Is there a way to let Office and Excel know that I don't care if it replaces items so that I don't get this message? This seems like a simple thing, but I have not been able to figure it out.

    Thanks,

    Margot

    If you go to View->Toolbars is the Clipboard checked? (if so, uncheck it)

    I did that, but it brings the toolbar up again each time I get the message.

    How about menubar>tools>customize>uncheck "clipboard "

    ==Could also try this===
    Do you need or use the ability to cache 12 copied items? Are you in the habit of copying multiple times with out pasting? Do you wish to use this as it is intended which is to cache up to 12 of the last things you have copied so you can have a running toolbar that allows you to pick and choose from those copies? If not see:

    There are two reg patches here that will do this for you:

    See section with comment about the office 2000 clipboard. particularly the need to close this 3 times for it to stick:
