Hi, I don't know whats happened but now when I start my PC all the icons on the desktop are missing and I've got no task bar, all I have is my wallpaper. To do anything I have to press CTRL/ALT/DEL then new task etc.

This all started last night after I installed an update for something through 'Bigfix', whether it's a coincidence or not I don't know.

    Any ideas please?

    Howard.

    Hello Howard,

First thing to do is to see if you can get back to the system state prior to the problem. Use System Restore to do so. Type in System Restore into the Help and Support applet in the start menu.

    What? More details please.

    Regards - Charles

Thanks Charles, all sorted. System restore worked.

Can't remember what it was I installed through Bigfix, it was about 5MB though.

    Thanks again,
    Howard.

Hi Howard - Welcome to the Board :)

Your BigFix log should show the fix you installed.

Glad to hear your problem is solved, but .......

In future please use a descriptive and relevant title to your threads - much more likely to gain you a response.

Thanks Pete, I installed 3 things last night but I reckon it was MDAC 2.8 which ******* it up.

    Cheers,
    HB.
