In event viewer I get this error :

The device, /device/harddisk2/D, is not ready for access yet.
    Event ID : 15

I recently installed a 160 GB seagate harddisk if that makes any difference. Been searching through support.microsoft.com without finding anything usefull. I did install installwizard from seagate that updated the register so that my winxp support harddisk with more than 137GB.

The computer has suddenly restarted (no warning, suddenly a black screen and then it starts booting up, checking harddisks and stuff, just like someone has hit the reset buttom). This has happend on several occasion. Because this happend with no prioer warning I though event viewer was the best way to try and find a cause, hence why Im asking this question.

That error could indicate a problem or could just be a timing issue where the system checks for the drive before it is fully spun up, writes the event, and the drive gets ready a second or two later.

Suggestion - turn off the automatic restart function so next time you have a crash, you'll get a blue screen with some useful information.

I'm assuming the drive is IDE and I don't have any first-hand experience with any that size that aren't SCSI - and those behave differently.
