Thanks to all who helped with my problem. If you want to read what the problem was you can look at my other threads. I have discovered what it was. I had deleted a program called WHAgent (WebHancer). This is an info gathering program that uses the internet to send info to webpages. It is connected with every program that uses the internet. They all upon starting up were looking for this program and when they couldn't find it the shutdown. This was the problem from the beginning. I would have never found it if it hadn't been for this board. Thanks to all! All I had to do was reinstall this program and everything works perfectly now. What a releif.

If you are happy, then fine. But WebHancer is spyware
    http://www.cexx.org/webhancer.htm
and such programs piggy back with "free" downloads of other programs. Often if you uninstall the "Webhancer" you will no longer be able to use the "free" program. But also there usually are similar "free" programs to do the job you want, but which do not install spyware.
I did not see the earlier thread, but if you post the names of the programs that would not work when you uninstalled WebHancer, perhaps suggestions can be made of programs, just as effective, that do not require the installation of spyware.
