    Hello,
I am new to DSL . I am wondering if i need to uninstall or disable my 56K fax modem before installing an ethernet card.

I tried to install card once and it installed but did not do so properly. Also i could not use my 56K modem. I could not connect to internet. I had to remove and re-install modem to get it to work. Any suggestions.

    Thanks

What OS are you using? First, there is no need to disconnect the old modem. But if it is set to automatically connect to the internet, you should disable that featur

If you are running Windows XP SP1, just put in your ethernet card and Windows should detect it upon bootup w/no drivers necessary.

If you have plenty of free PCI slots don't bunch everything together (if you have video card, modem card and then a bunch of empty slots put the Ethernet card in the slot furthest from the other two cards), otherwise as RayH say, you shouldn't have to remove the modem.
