I'm not certain if this is the proper forum for this question, but:

I have Win 95 OS and I removed Internet Explorer when I got the computer -- I use both Opera 7 and K'meleon 0.8.2 to browse the web. Additional info -- legacy Pentium-S processor, 64 MB RAM, 2 hard drives -- C: drive 405 MB, D: drive 330MB [both near capacity :-\]

I come across applications that I'd like to install on my system, BUT some "require" that Internet Explorer be installed in order to run.
My question is: what are the "core" files contained in Internet Explorer that I need in order to run these types of programs? In general terms,
most indicate that at a minimun IE 4.0 is needed. Can I just go to the IE Core.cab and install those files only, or do I need others?

Any ideas? [besides just installing IE, cuz I don't have the disk space]
    Thanks:confused:

No, these files will call up other files. Then there are the registry entries for IE to contend with.
    I have no other ideas.

Thanks for the reply, Mark --
I tried to install a program the other day, and when I started it, I got a "missing URLMon.dll " message -- so I installed that file, and then I got another message saying "urlmon.dll was linked to missing file ****.dll ", and so it seems it would be a never ending task to continue to install the "missing" files until the program worked . . . and then it might halt somewhere else while executing .
If I had the disk space, I would just install IE 4.0 or something, and then start from the other direction, deleting files until I found the ones from IE that were necessary . . . trial and error sort of thing.

    There MUST be a solution out there . . . . aha !! maybe LINUX !

    see ya,

Or add another hard drive. If you can find anyone getting rid of an older system, chances are you can get a couple Gb drive for little or nothing.
