For some reason I get an error when I go into Yahoo Games. When I chose a game a window pops up but I get a runtime error. If I debug it ends up being an error in the routine window.open....do I have a setting causing this error? Thanks in advance. Never had this happen in 98 SE...not sure I like XP anymore.

    What is the error?

For the runtime error, try this:

Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
Place a tick next to Disable Script Debugging
Remove the tick next to Display a notification about every script error

  3. to hide this advert.

Hey, thanks for the reply...the error says:

A runtime error has occurred. Do you wish to debug?

    Line: 74
Error: The specified module could not be found.

When I go into the debugger the module looks like it's :

    window.open()

Yahoo fills in the argument list. The window opens but nothing gets put in there...ie. Pool player list, etc. If I uncheck and check your suggestions...the same thing happens (empty window) but I don't get the error window/message.

??? what do you think? Thanks again.

    Jeff.

    Try:

    Start > Run > type REGSVR32 URLMON.DLL > click OK

When done, reboot. Go to internet Properties > Programs > Reset Web Settings

If that doesn't help, you may have a setting somewhere that has disabled scripting.

hey......thanks! That did the trick! Not sure which thing fixed it or if it was a combination of both. Now....can you explain what the "regsvr32 urlmon.dll" does....just curious? Also, can that command be used on any or maybe all dlls? Last but not least...any idea what program I installed or modification I made to cause my initial problem? Thanks again!

Sorry...one more question. The Yahoo games used to work on this computer. I think the only thing I installed was the new XP version of the Novell client. Could that have caused the problem? I noticed that it changes a lot of login, screen saver and security features on the machine. Thanks for your time.

Glad that helped. Have a look here:

Re: Novell. I can't really say. I don't use anything Novell. I used to use Novell Netware clients at work, but not since Windows 2000 and now XP. Since then I've only used the Novell client included with the OS.
