I have Windows XP on my computer. Sometimes when I try to connect to the internet a screen comes up which says "Error 718 ". Does anyone know of a directory that would list error numbers and what they mean? Thank you.

You can have a look at this.
    DUNS ERROR 718 .
I did a search at google for error 718 and came up with a bunch of pages related to this. You might have a look. What's happening is your connection is timing out before it finishes making the connection. From the search at google it seems most likely causes are either noisy phone lines or a server related problem. Could be that the server is just to busy at the time to handle all the connections at once and your's times out because it doesn't get around to taking care of yours. Could also be a configuration problem on their end. Does it happen often? If so, are you able to redial and connect or do you have reboot in order to get it to connect? Is there any noise on your phone line? You can check by dialing one number and listening to the phone to see if you hear any pops, cracks, or whatever.
