when the pc boots at the welcome screen he display's something that he has troubles load a profile or something. when I go to the eventviewer I get this error message twice:

windows can't load the registry. this is often caused by insufficient memory or insufficient security rights

Detail: the system has tried to load a file in the registry or to put it back, but it has no registryfileallocation for: C:\Documents and Settings\Geert Verhaegen\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\\UsrClass.dat.

also the shutdown time is very high, is takes up to 1 minute to shutdown.

    anyone ideas?

    Mindbug - if
If the \\ is really there between Windows and UsrClass.dat then that would certainly cause a problem.

Otherwise, are you only having problems with the one account or with others?

And as a general rule, posting the whole event helps. The extra detail makes searching easier. When you have an event open, if you click on the icon below the up/down arrows, you get a text copy sent to your clipboard that you can post here. Like the one below (from my PC)

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: W32Time
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 29
    Date: 2/20/2003
    Time: 4:51:29 AM
    User: N/A
    Computer: PMUUSWXPW9NVK3
    Description:
The time provider NtpClient is configured to acquire time from one or more time sources, however none of the sources are currently accessible. No attempt to contact a source will be made for 15 minutes. NtpClient has no source of accurate time.

    Hi Mindbug

I had the same thing happen to me.
Every once in a while I'd get a message after signing on
Something about User setting not set and using default settings.

Here is what my Event Viewer looked like.

Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the
    default profile for the system.

DETAIL - The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the
registry, but the specified file is not in a registry file format.

Windows was unable to load the registry. This is often caused by
insufficient memory or insufficient security rights.

DETAIL - The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the

    C:\Documents and Settings\Bill\Local Settings\Application
    Data\Microsoft\Windows\\UsrClass.dat

    Now for the fix!!!
When I used a text editor to open my UsrClass.dat I had all NULLS, 256K worth.
I signed on as another user, renamed my UsrClass.dat.BAD
Restarted the computer, signed on and windows created
    a new UsrClass.dat Problem Fixed!

    Hope this helps you.
