When I start-up my computer, I sometimes receive the following Message: "An error occurred reading the start-up configuration file. Please contact your administrator.
    Syntax error: illegal character. "

This is followed by ajumble of characters.

    Help!!

Re my message concerning error message.

This appears to happen when I click on Netscape icon and try to start that program.

So this is not a startup issue, a Netscape. Maybe should be moved to Netscape board.

    Hi Lonnie,

Sounds as if you have a problem with your prefs.js file.

Do you get a specific script in the error? For example does it list something like:
"Error occurred reading startup config file; line 263: Syntax Error.
Unterminated string literal user_pref ( "secur" ... or something similar?

If you could copy the error and post it, there is a fix without having to create a new prefs.js, or create a new Profile.

    Ramona :D
