Error Message: Security Accounts manager

Hello All,

I recently installed Exchange Server 2000. After doing so and logging into the sytem for a few times, I finally started receiving the following error message when attempting to log in to the system.

Security SAccounts Manager initialization failed because of the following error: Directory Service cannot start Error Status: 0xc00002e1

It tells me to boot up into Directory Restore mode and check the event log. When I do, i do see anything that tells me how to correct this error. can someone advise me how to fix this problem short of a reinstallation of win2k.

 

Your problem may not have anything at all to do with Exchange Server - even though the error message says it does. Unfortunately, 0xc00002e1 is the Win2K server "general garbage error ". Take a look at:

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, you need to apply the patch before you update the schema. I do believe that I must reinstall before I can fix the problem.

Do you know where I might find this hotfix winse 18593, I have tried to find it without success on MS site.
