    Try this:
    1. Highlight and copy the following single line of code:

      Code:
      cmd /c dir C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash>%temp%\$&notepad %temp%\$

    2. In Windows XP, click Start > click Run, press [Ctrl][V] to paste in what you copied above then press the [Enter] key.

    3. A notepad window should pop up with a directory listing in it. Click once anywhere in that window, press [Ctrl][A] to highlight everything and then [Ctrl][C] to copy it.

    4. Start a Reply here to this thread and then press [Ctrl][V] to paste in what you copied.

Hi Trisha. Lets try completely removing Adobe Flash Player and installing the latest version and see if that solves the problem.

Click Start< Control Panel< Add/Remove Programs. After the Add/Remove programs window opens, highlight and remove Adobe Flash Player ActiveX and Adobe Flash Player plugin if they are listed. Then once the program has been removed, reboot the computer.

After the computer has been rebooted, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player form here, Adobe Flash Player 11.8.800.94.

Make sure to uncheck the Google Chrome/Google Toolbar installation if you don't want those programs to be installed.

If you haven't uninstalled Flash yet, highlight and copy the following single line of code:

    Code:
    copy c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\flash32_11_4_402_287.ocx c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\flash.ocx

Then in Windows XP, click Start > click Run, press [Ctrl][V] to paste in what you copied above then press the [Enter] key.

Reboot and see if the message disappears.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your help, I have removed the Flash Player Active and plugin as requested, on clicking on the download for Adobe Flash Player latest version I receive a message to say the Google Chrome browser (which is already my browser) already includes Flash Player built in and updates will be received automatically when new versions are available.

    Hi,

    There is a file called Flash32 11_4_402_287.ocx
    Flash32 11_5_502_110.ocx
in the directory listing that I forwarded earlier, is this relevant?

Yes, copy either one of those into the same directory (folder) and then rename it "flash.ocx" (without the quotes). Then hopefully, whatever old program you have that's looking for that ancient "flash.ocx" name will then be able to find it.

In Windows XP, click Start > Run, type in (or copy and paste) this single line:

    c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash

and press [Enter]. A Windows Explorer window should open and place you in the "c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash" folder (directory).

In that folder, right-click the file named "Flash32 11_5_502_110.ocx" and drag it down to any blank spot within that same pane, let go of the right-click mouse button and then left click the "Copy here" option in the little menu that appears.

You will now have two of these files, the one named "Flash32 11_5_502_110.ocx" and a new one named "Flash32 11_5_502_110 - Copy.ocx ". Right-click the new one (with the word "Copy" in it), select "Rename" and rename it:

    flash.ocx

That's it, your done. Reboot, hibernate and then see if that flash error message pops up again when you bring it out of hibernation.

I understand your instructions but the file "Flash 32 "etc is not in the FlashInstall.log but is in the $notepad and I cannot drag it across?

    Forget the log.

What happens in Windows XP if you click Start > Run, type in (or copy and paste) this single line:

    c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash

    and press [Enter]?
