Error During Bootup

Hi,

I turned on my Dell Inspiron 8600 with Windows XP Home Edition. It would not start - black screen.

The error message read: WindowsRoot\system32\ntoskrnl.exe missing or corrupt.

Now what... any ideas???

See the Microsoft Knowledge Base article, Error Message: Windows Could Not Start Because of a Computer Disk Hardware Configuration Problem.

In spite of the title, it does deal with the error message you're getting.
