Error Codes

I get a blue screen with an error code quite often. The screen often goes away when I press enter and the system goes back to window, not always but at least half the time. Does anyone know how to "read" the error codes? The last one I got was :ERROR 0E:0197:BFF8E64B. I've chased through the MS site and can't find specific help. Thanks

But you have nothing to lose by trying the few ideas mentioned if you think they might apply to you.
Do you maintain your PC regularly, like IE Tools|Internet Options|General tab|Delete Files, My Computer|right click on C:\ drive|Tools tab|Error Checking and Defragmenting?
If none of the above help you might try scanreg /fix

Does WinMe offer DrWatson? You might run a Find on *.wlg. If you find such files, open several with the highest numbers (or the highest number right after one of those incidents) and see what it tells you about the error.

 

If you are getting seemingly random error numbers, I would say you have a memory stick going bad.
