I am trying to help my daughter who has an older Dell Inspiron 600m running WinXP Home Ed. Lately, she has had an issue with the laptop not booting past the Welcome screen. She'll get the following error msg after pressing F12 during the boot up or after running Dell Diagnostics:

    Error Code 6537:011B
Msg: Expected Processor Fan on low RPM of 2000. Detected fan RPM = 2859.

On my recommendation, she's blown out the dust and verified that the fan works (how well it works, I don't know). This happens whether running A/C or battery-only. It also will not boot off the CD.

Anyone have any other suggestions? It sounds like a hardware issue to me. But I don't want to go on a hunt for antiquated laptop parts unless I'm fairly certain it'll fix the problem. As a last resort, I'll have her mail me back the laptop and I'll open it up, removing and reseating all the major components
    Thanks!!

I see that you have posted this issue elsewhere and received a number of responses .....

Posting the same issue on multiple BBS/forums is not acceptable however desperate you are for a solution. We are all volunteers and our time is precious and can be wasted if you are following suggestions made outside of WindowsBBS without our knowledge. We have no idea what potential solution has been recommended elsewhere and the outcome - in other words the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.
