    Hello all,

My name is mike and i am new here at the forums. I am trying to fix my old computer so that my little borhter has a computer bc we really cannot afford to buy him a new one, and i bought me one, but i suspect he is the reason that the old one died the way it has. Well, enough of that, here is the proflem. It is a older (2002 Model) Dell Demension 4300S with Windows XP Home Ed. It has the Pent. 4 Prosessor and im not sure on the Ram but its pretty much all used up. I am trying to start the computer but im stuck in a reboot mode getting the "Blue Screen of Death" that says this:

    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGE_AREA

    Technicall Information:

    *** STOP: 0X00000050 (Oxc2300000,0x00000000, 0x80403DE8,0c00000000)

Does anyone know what the hell this means. I have tried BOTH of the reinstall disks and nothing same thing, i cant start in safe mode, i can start the windows AT ALL. Im stuck 100% and i really just want this so he can use the computer on the internet for school and stuff. If you guys can help with this in anyway, please please please, anything that you guys can tell me is greatly appreciated!!!! I just am so lost. I cant start anything because when i try this page comes up and it just restarts again, asking which mode do i want to go into and no matter what i try, it still does the same thing!!! thanks guys ahead of time for your help. and be honest, is this thing just a big paper weight or can i actually get it to run again?? Thanks again!!!!!!

Mike - Welcome to the Board :)

A STOP: 0X00000050 error is generally hardware related - memory or hard drive.

As you are unable to boot into Windows in any mode or use your recovery disks your options are limited.

If you feel confident to delve inside the computer case a couple or three things to do .....

With the computer powered down ....

Check all cables, especially those to the hard drive. Carefully remove each one and reconnect - you say that the computer is old so corriosion may be an issue. Test

Carefully remove the memory modules and clean their contacts with a soft pencil eraser - hold the modules by the edge, not by the chips - clean down each contact, not across the lot. Wipe with a little alcohol to degrease and refit. Test

Identify the make and possibly model of the hard drive and then go to the appropriate manufacturer's website and download the CD version of their disk diagnostic software which should run on boot .....
