Hey guys, I'm at my mother inlaws trying to figure out this trouble she is having. When she enters a game on this gambling site it starts to load and just as it becomes visable in the new window the machine does a complete restart.
We have updated Java to the latest and put in more ram (someone elses idea). Here is a link to the game>javascript:rc('showbiz-plshsf066'); It is on a site called pogo.com
    Any Ideas?
    Dan

    Hi Dan,

    Welcome to WindowsBBS.
It might prove helpful if you could give us a bit of information about the system, such as OS and version of IE.
I had a problem with IE closing when trying to load pogo game rooms a while back. Read in this thread concerning HOSTS file.

Sorry, It's a Gateway With a pentium III, 192 megs of ram using Win 98 as installed from gateway, browsing via a cable broadband modem.
Also some of the games work fine but on the slot machine games it locks up as it loads the game. I went to Sun Systems and re installed JAVA and now instead of rebooting it just locks up and ctl-alt-del is the only way to get going again.
    Thanks for the reply.
    Dan

And what version of Internet Explorer? Click help>about IE on the toolbar. Give version, cipher strength and updates. Thanks.

If you haven't already, empty TIF's (including offline content) and clear cookies.

She has IE ver. 6.0? with 128 bit encryption. I cleaned out the TIFs and all the cookies, ran ad ware and spybot destroyer.
I read the thread you suggested and did find Java Console and logging were UNchecked in advanced tools so I checked them and started a restart and then had to leave.
I bookmarked this thread for her and she will check it periodically.
I think this has to be something simple as most all the other games work fine. She has had a guy from gateway over (warranty) and all he did was reinstall Norton firewall and antivirus software. I did try the game site with all the virus and firewall software disabled with the same results.
    Thanks again, Dan
PS: just finished the thread that takes us to gorillas HOSTS school and it sounds like I need to have her look for that file and see whats in it. I know she has had a couple of ad blocker programs on her machine. I'll post back if that fixes it.
