Enormus number of error events

I am running
Win 7 Pro x64 v. 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601

Been having numerous problems of crashes, freezing, and speed. I finally looked at the Event Viewer ... the results:

1 Application Events
Critical: 19 ... all Kernal-Power, type 41 -63
Error 484
2. System Events
Critical: 15
Error 3751 many of many different types

The only type I could handle easily so far was a chkdsk error on a hard drive.
Is there a better way of addressing this than
1. laboriously looking up the event codes and trying to deal with each in turn?
or
2. hire a firm like the Geek Squad to resolve it all ... an expensive way, but ...
