I want to protect/hide/encrypt sensitive files on my computers. I have an XP laptop, a win7 desktop and a win10 laptop. They are all home editions and as I've discovered, they don't qualify for TPM or bitlocker, unless an upgrade to pro versions is done. I've seen suggestions to use axcrypt or AEScrypt, but I'm unclear how they compare to bitlocker or if they're safe to use. Or does simply changing the permissions in the properties of a folder to administrator accomplish my objective?
