    All;

Just received a new W7 laptop, and I’ve got Office2010. Also just installed Entrust 9.2 for Windows. I moved my Entrust profile over to this new machine & logged into it just fine. I can also decrypt messages previously sent to me just fine too. But when I originate a new message, and click the "˜encrypt’ button, I always get:

“you do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object. Please see the folder owner, or your system administrator…â€. "“This appears after the message is encrypted, and Outlook actually goes to send it…

I know this is a generic-sounding message, but are there some things I can look at, that might cause this.....?

You may need to Take Ownership of the pst file as it was transferred from another computer and owner - you are a new owner on this laptop as far as that file is concerned..

OP here: Unfortunately, I'm not using a PST file; all my mail is on the Exchange server. The file that was 'transfered' was the Entrust Profile file, which contains the PKI certs.

Sorry - Exchange Servers are way outside my knowledge base.

Check/update the certificate on the new machine.

The certificates inside the Entrust Profile are OK, and they successfully decrypt messages for me w/ no problem. The error I get, originates from Outlook, and pops up when I hit the 'send' button, and Outlook is trying to encrypt the email message.

I've never used Entrust, and can't help more then to suggest to check permissions or try creating a new user account profile.

I think I fixed the problem – but this is a weird one…

Notice how after creating an email message in Outlook, you can ‘save’ the message, and it pops up in “Drafts”, and that folder becomes bold? If I create a message that I want to encrypt, and save it in drafts, it *always* gets this permission error. What I do that works: After creating a message I want to encrypt, make SURE to NOT save the message into Drafts. If I send the message at this point, it encrypts just fine.

Then try creating another folder that in theory you'll have permission to access. You can then tell Outlook to save mail to the new folder.

One person's opinion at work, was that it was a bug in Office2010. My Outlook2007 doesn't suffer this problem, only Office2010 on my new laptop has this problem.

You can't do that with the drafts folder.

Outlook 2010 settings only allow you to change the Automatically save items.... to
    • Drafts
    • Inbox
    • Sent Mail
    • Outbox

I didn't even look at the settings;)

But if I were sitting there, I'd try the Inbox option since he probably has full control over it.

OP here: I fooled around with the email encryption settings & the 'extensions settings' in Outlook, and managed to get the error to go away. bi-directional encryption OK now.
