    Hello,

When I put files in my encrypted folder, they pressumably cannot be opened by somebody else. This is very usefull for, for instance, laptop users. I'm working on a network and make a regular backup with the Microsoft Backup Tool to my homedrive.

Now comes the tricky part: What happens when my laptop gets stolen. I can do a restore of the files to my original Encrypted files folder on the new laptop. Will I be able to access it. A key is used to encrypt the files. Is this key user dependent or PC dependent.

I hope I've been clear enough here ;-)

The encryption key is based on the the user account. However, having said that your scenario would only work if the user account you're referring to is a domain user account and not a local user account to the laptop.
