I've been getting empty gray boxes as if there are programs minimized in the start/taskbar area. This happens after I close a program or mostly when I move the mouse after the screensaver has been on. I've done searches but can't find anything. Any idea what causes this?

    Thanks!

Hi Basstracker, I get this also very occaisonally. It seems to be a glitch
in 98 SE when it does not close an app fully - maybe when overloaded with
too many running apps ? As you know, a click on the taskbar empty
window removes it and there do no seem to be harmful symptoms.
    regards

Basstracker--As merlin has said, it is purely cosmetic and should cause no harm. If clicking it won't get rid of it, it will be gone the next time you reboot.

Do not put all the reasons for it on Win98 SE.

I get the same thing occasionly in XP Pro. And I also believe it does have something to do with running ( or not fully closed ) app. Or when I run a certain series of programs in a certain sequence.

Which BTW, I HOPE to found out someday. ( if I am lucky )

And as merlin states there seems to be damage done.
