My son recently purchased & connected a network adapter, allowing him to connect to his friends internet system (adjacent apartments). Although his friend says he did not purchase/install a router on his end, my son gets internet access!? Is this possible?? Tx:confused:

Yes & no. If friend has wireless too, then friend's comp may have Internet Connection Sharing enabled and your son connects through friend's computer. Or the frfiend actually has a wifi (dsl) modem w/ built in router, which is very common today. Else if friend does not use ICS nor have a wifi access point/router, then no, your son is not connecting to friend's network, probably someone else's!
