I am setting up a new laptop which has Windows 7. I have installed Office 2007 Home and am using Windows Live Mail for email. All is now working well, except that when I use the "Send" command from an open MS Word document and choose the first option - send a copy as an email attachment - it does not work. Windows Live Mail starts up but instead of giving me a blank email with the document attached as Word 2003 on XP used to on my old computer, I just get taken to the Live Mail inbox. If I then go back to Word, there is a box open with the message "Logon failed. You must log on to Microsoft Exchange to access your address book. Error code: 'Unspecified error' ". When I close Word, I get a message saying there is no email program associated to perform the requested action, and telling me to install an email program or create an association with one. I have checked the program defaults and Windows Live Mail has all its defaults set.

I don't want to have to log on to Exchange every time I want to send from a document. Is there anything I can do to make sending directly from a document as easy as it was with Word 2003 and XP?

    Thanks.

    Alistair

    Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
    Click the Programs tab.
In the E-mail box, select your preffered mail client.
    Click OK
