My husband's computer will send and receive email and launches the homepage on Internet Explorer but he cannot go anywhere else. This just started Thursday. We have done a disk cleanup, defrag, checked connection, security and system restore but nothing has worked. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it?
    Thanks!

StarrMarie - Welcome to the Board :)

Need some more detail here please .....

    Operating System - XP, Vista .... ?

    Version of IE - 6, 7 or .... ?

What happens when he types an address into the Address Bar ? Error message - what is shown on the screen ... ?

Have you added any new software recently ?

Is your antivirus fully updated and firewall - which one? - fully operational ?

Have you scanned the system for viruses, adware, etc ?

Although OE (is this the mailer?) and IE are closely integrated it is no real surprise that OE can send/receive email - at least that indicates that the internet connection is sound.

Re: Email works but not IE

Thanks for the reply. I will try to answer the questions for all those for future reference. That computer has XP and my husband thinks it is IE 6. The error message came up with a light blue screen with Internet Explorer not found. Virus updates and scans scheduled to run automatically. He has two computers and both had the same problem. The only link we could think of was they were on the same router. We changed the router this morning and everything is back to normal (whatever that is in cyberspace). It was very strange that he could send and receive email and go to the homepage on the internet (use any links on the homepage) but could not go beyond that place. Does not make any sense but the new router fixed the problem.

    Thanks again.

Thanks for the update - glad to hear the problem is resolved.

For future reference, in cases like this, reboot the router - often works :)
