In Outlook Express I used to be able to R click an email and check the properties, message source etc. Is it possible to do that with Outlook emails? If so, how?

In Outlook 2007 it's done like this:

    Open the registry editor and select: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Office \ 12.0 \ Outlook \ Options \ Mail

Create a new DWORD named SaveAllMIMENotJustHeaders with Value 1

    Restart Outlook.

This works only on new mail received after you create the registry key. You won't be able to see the source on messages already downloaded. Also, this works on mail obtained from Internet mail transports, not Exchange server mailboxes.

I haven't tried Office 2010 yet, so I'm not sure what the correct key location is. The only thing what would change would be the \ 12.0 \ part.

Alternatively - in Outlook 2007 at least ....

Right click on the message in the Inbox > Message Options ....

In the window which opens are the details of the Internet Headers - screenshot ....

Is that what you were after?

Thanks for the info Arie but it's a little beyond my comfort zone. I haven't created a new dword before.

Pete, I can get to that option (once I put it in the quick access bar) but it's not quite what I was looking for. In Outlook Express I used to be able to actually read the message by R click properties.

You're right Arie, I should probably take registry editing 101. :)

That value already exists in Office 2010 (...Office \ 12.0 \ Outlook \ Options \ Mail) . It does not yet exist in ...\ Office \ 14.0 \ Outlook \ Options \ Mail. Adding the value there does nothing per my test.

That's not a key used by Office 2010 AFAIK.

    Office 2007 = Office 12.0

    Office 2010 = Office 14.0

I haven't found the need to install Office 2010 yet. Maybe one day on my laptop if I have some spare time...

It's not a big deal guys. I thought there was an 'easy' setting that I could change.

    My registry has HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Office \ 12.0 and HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Office \ 14.0.

I realize now that's becaues I uninstalled Office 2007 prior to installing 2010. It seems that the Office 2007 registry keys remained.

I bought this computer with Office 2007 on it with an option to register it. I bet I have that key too. I bought the full version 2010, uninstalled the 2007 and installed the 2010.
